The IWA(GB) in Derby

There are many branches of the IWA(GB) in different locations around the country. Creating our archive is an ongoing project and there is certainly more material to be added and activities and experiences to be explored from different locations around the country. We remain committed to continuing to develop the archive, whilst also acknowledging its inherently partial nature, and welcome the addition of further material.

Members of the Derby branch have played key roles in the Central Executive Committee and engaged with national campaigns, including those related to workers’ rights, international solidarity campaigns and gendered inequalities.

The IWA(GB) Derby has also attended to more localised concerns within Derby and the wider East Midlands. Of particular interest is work linked to anti-racism in Derby, campaigns for home-workers’ rights, campaigns related to gender equality (particularly related to Dowry and inheritance rights), campaigns challenging colonial histories and events and writing highlighting women’s activism and resistance.
